Police in West Berbice medical outreach

Yesterday, the Guyana Police Force conducted a Medical Outreach on the West Coast of Berbice which formed part of activities in observance of the Force’s 176th Anniversary.

A release from the police said that a number of doctors comprising General Medical Practitioners and psychiatrists from public and private institutions formed the medical team supported by religious leaders attached to the Police Cops and Faith Community Network in the various communities.

The release said that hundreds of residents benefitted from free medical consultations and attention, and received medication where necessary, at the several locations at Bath Primary School, Rosignol Primary School, Ithaca Health Centre, Bush Lot Health Centre, Woodley Park Health Centre, Belladrum Health Centre, and the Rosignol Health Centre. One person who was recently involved in a vehicular accident was referred to the New Amsterdam Hospital with transportation being provided by the Police Force.

Those gathered were treated to a presentation on lifestyle diseases by Dr. Carl Niamatali that focused on diabetes, cancer and hypertension in terms of the signs and symptoms, prevention and treatment.

Minister of Public Security Khemraj Ramjattan and the Commissioner of Police Seelall Persaud accompanied the team.
