PPP/C MPs attend training session

General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party Clement Rohee said that while the new Members of Parliament attended an orientation yesterday he would not confirm that the party would make its first entry into the 11Th Parliament today.

Speaking to Stabroek News yesterday Rohee said that although the new MPs would have attended a training session at parliament along with longstanding PPP stalwart and parliamentarian Gail Teixeira he could not confirm or deny whether the party planned on sitting in on the National Assembly.

As of yesterday the PPP was slated to hold a press briefing today at Freedom House where it was expected that the party would announce it will be attending their first sitting as members of the opposition in over 23 years.

Earlier this month the PPP had finally settled on its list of 32 MPs. Former President Bharrat Jagdeo is expected to be named as the Leader of the Opposition.
