Cops reviewing footage in Wisdom Supermarket robbery

The police are trying to review CCTV footage in hopes of identifying the two individuals who robbed the Wisdom Supermarket and shot the owner in his leg.

Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told Stabroek News yesterday that while there aren’t any other leads, the investigators are in the process of reviewing CCTV footage from the various cameras that were situated around the business.

Two men had walked into Hua Kang Huang’s business, Wisdom Supermarket, at Vryheid’s Lust, on Saturday night pretending to be customers. One of the men had approached Huang’s wife, who was at one of the cash registers, and demanded cash from her while the other approached him. After Huang had taken some time to open a safe, one of the men, who was armed with a gun, shot him in his leg. The men had taken an undisclosed amount of cash and two large bottles of Sky Vodka and escaped. Huang was subsequently rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was treated and released a day later. He remains at home in a stable condition recovering.
