A Lethem man who admitted to being found with close to a kilogramme of cannabis in his house was sentenced to three years in jail yesterday.

But while Mark Marcello claimed possession of the narcotics, his two co-accused, Ravenna Ignatius and Gilly Stanislaus, denied the drug trafficking charge laid against them.

It was alleged that the three had 850 grammes of cannabis in their possession after police discovered the prohibited drug spread out on the verandah of the house they were occupying.

According to the prosecution, the discovery was made on August 17th, when police conducted a raid on the house at Tabatinga Village, Lethem. After the discovery, Marcello, Ignatius and Stanislaus were arrested.
