Public schools set for August 31 re-opening

The Ministry of Education yesterday issued a reminder to the public of the Monday, August 31 commencement of the new school year 2015-2016.

In a press release, the ministry also used the opportunity to remind students of the importance of school attendance and punctuality. To the parents, the ministry expressed its gratitude for the sterling contributions made but also voiced the hope that all parents would participate in the education process by forming long- term relationships with class teachers, attend parent-teacher meetings and visit their children’s school.

Further, the ministry said, it expects “nothing less than the commitment and professionalism of teachers across the country, and it looks forward to working in partnership with them, and all other education stakeholders, to mould the minds of Guyana’s children.”

The Ministry issued a call to the 2013-2015 batch of teachers of the Cyril Potter College of Education to sign their contracts at the Ministry’s Personnel Department at 21 Brickdam, Georgetown and in so doing bring the following required support documents:

A valid Passport

2 Passport size photographs

Identification Card

NIS Card

Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate (where applicable)
