Three held after high speed chase in city

A police rank is now nursing a gunshot wound while three men have been arrested following a high speed chase in the city last evening.

The chase ended at Roxanne Burnham Gardens, where a police van rammed into the rear of the fleeing car just after 8pm.

The chase reportedly began after the car refused to stop upon instructions by the police. During the chase, a shot was reportedly fired from the car, hitting a police rank on one of his hands.

Police returned fire but no one else sustained any major injuries.

After the car was stopped at Roxanne Burnham Gardens, the police apprehended three men who were occupants.

The injured rank along with the occupants of the car, who sustained minor injuries, were subsequently taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where they received medical attention.

A man, who said that he was in close vicinity at the time, recalled seeing the police van crashing into the rear of the car before the officers disembarked and arrested the three occupants.

After the incident, Joint Services patrols were seen in the area.
