Ministry says flooded by consumer complaints

The Ministry of Tourism says it has been inundated with consumer complaints and warned that the law governing this area will be strictly enforced effective December 1, 2015.

In a notice in yesterday’s Sunday Stabroek, the Ministry of Tourism, Consumer Affairs Division said that it has been inundated with complaints from consumers about the substandard goods and services given to them.

“As a result of the aforementioned we wish to draw forcibly to the attention of all suppliers of goods and services, the provisions enacted in the Consumer Affairs Act of 2011..Please be advised that any breach of the above law will be met with strict application of the penalties as prescribed in the above Act”, the notice said.
