Three injured in motorbike, minibus crash at Perth, Essequibo

Three persons are said to be in critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital following an accident on the Perth Public Road, Essequibo Coast.

According to information, the incident occurred around 7.15 am yesterday and involved a ‘Pit Bull’ minibus and a motorcycle.

This publication was told that the bus bearing number plate BTT 6674 was heading south along the road and was being driven by Idi Amin Sealy called ‘Chewy’. In the minibus were the conductor Leon Featherstone called ‘Matchstick’, Winston Livan and Onika Grant known as Etta. All three persons live at Dartmouth.

The motorcycle, with number plate CE 1741, was being ridden by Mohandai known as ‘Knuckles’ of Perth.

According to one eyewitness, Mohandai was riding out of his yard on his motorcycle when the incident occurred.

“He just ride straight out on the road and in front the bus,” the eyewitness said. “Chewy swerve out suddenly and like that cause he to lose control and the bus topple couple times then it end up crashing into a fence.”

The eyewitness said the occupants had to be taken from the mangled vehicle by residents of the area and were immediately rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital.

This newspaper was told that Sealy, Featherstone and Grant were air-dashed to the Georgetown Public Hospital around 1 pm yesterday.

Featherstone and Amin were said to have sustained injuries to their heads, while Grant sustained injuries to her feet.

Mohandai reportedly es-caped unharmed.

When Stabroek News visited the scene, a large crowd had gathered and traffic officers were marking the area. The motorcycle, which was badly damaged, was taken away in the police vehicle.
