Guyana Jaguars wrap up successful PCL training match

Key performances from a few of the Guyana Jaguars’ top players wrapped up a successful three-day simulation match played at Bourda, as part of the defending champions pre-season training camp.

Two teams, one led by Assad Fudadin and the other by Vishaul Singh, engaged in some intense preparation ahead of the Professional Cricket League (PCL) four-day season which bowls off on November 6.

Singh fashioned a solid 58 on the final day yesterday after resuming on an overnight score of 44 after rain stopped play on day two.

All-rounder Kemo Paul failed to add to his overnight total and was run-out for four. Steven Jacobs (7), Kemol Savory (0), Barbados’ Javon Searles (0) and Paul Wintz (6), all fell cheaply as the Singh XI were reduced to 113.

Barbadian all-rounder Raymond Reifer was the pick of the bowlers with three victims while left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul and Christopher Barnwell claimed two wickets apiece. Ronsford Beaton, Joshua Wade and Raj Nanan chipped in with one each.

Batting again, Fudadin’s XI reached 76-2 at the end of the simulation with senior campaigner Shivnarine Chanderpaul unbeaten on 29, and National U19 player Tevin Imlach on 12.

National opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul, son of Shivnarine, looked solid but failed to press on as he contributed with 15 while his partner Fudadin fell for 7, compliments of spinners Gudakesh Motie and Steven Jacobs.

Meanwhile, head coach Esaun Crandon expressed his satisfaction over the simulation game. He said that a similar scenario is planned for next week, in addition to two four-day games slated for next month.
