Dates fixed for elections for Bartica, Essequibo associations

Following consultations with the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), the Bartica and Essequibo Football Associations respectively adopted their new constitutions, paving the way for elections to be held by the respective entities.

According to an official press release from the federation: “The Bartica and Essequibo Football Associations recently met and adopted their new constitutions which will now pave the way for elections to be held in the Region Seven and Two locations on October 17 and 18 respectively.”

According to the release: “General Secretary Richard Groden, along with his assistant Deidre Davis, journeyed to both areas, first meeting with club representatives at the Xenon Hotel in Charity. The clubs represented were Henrietta United, Queenstown, Wakapoa United, Super Eleven FC, Devonshire Castle Football Club and Charity X-treme Club.

“The elections were set for October 17 at the Oasis Hotel in Queenstown. The meeting was chaired by Groden, who informed the representatives of the purpose of the meeting and outlined the Constitution Adoption and Elections of the New Executive Timelines.”

Two clubs were missing from the Bartica association but according to the release, the clubs present all voted in favour of adopting the new constitution.

“In Bartica at the St. John’s the Baptist Primary School, Lazio FC, Rivers’ View FC, Beacons FC, Wolves United and Mil Balls were the clubs represented while missing were Potaro Strikers and Rising Star football clubs.

“After the Constitution Review process was completed all clubs present voted in favour of the adoption of the new constitution with the election for new office bearers set for October 18 in the boardroom of the Regional Democratic Council,” the correspondence stated.

To date, the East Bank Football Association and Upper Demerara Football Association are the only associations known to have adopted their new constitution. With regards to the Elite clubs, Pele FC has acknowledged to have adopted their new constitution. The official timeline for the GFF Constitution Reform and Congress states that meetings for adoption of each member’s new constitution should conclude by September 25th. The timeline further stated that meetings to elect new executive committee of members should occur by October 30th, with the GFF congress programmed to be held November 14th.
