Australian envoy holds talks with Ramjattan, Trotman

Treatment of refugees, border security, deportation, gun amnesties, territorial sovereignty and potential for economic development were among the issues addressed yesterday when Vice President and Minister of Public Security Khemraj Ramjattan met Australian High Commissioner to Guyana Ross Tysoe.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Public Security, the discussions included the sharing of current practices and experiences in Guyana and Australia, and areas where improvement and assistance are needed in Guyana and possible solutions which could be utilised.

Tysoe, who is based in Trinidad and Tobago and holds accreditation as Australian High Commissioner to Caricom, also paid a courtesy call on Minister of Governance with responsibility for Natural Resources and the Environment, Raphael Trotman. Tysoe leaves Guyana tomorrow.
