Charlestown resident Paul Anthony Punch, who allegedly told police he was just on “a lil hustle” when he was caught with ganja, was yesterday refused bail after being charged with possession for trafficking.

The charge stated that on October 10th, at Sussex and Adelaide streets, Charlestown, Punch, 40, had in his possession 120 grammes of cannabis.

Punch, a mason, pleaded not guilty to the charge, and his attorney, Clive Forde, sought bail for him.

Forde noted that the charge against his client came after police officers conducted a search on an apartment building and discovered the ganja and tried to tie the man to the find. However, Forde stated that several other persons, apart from Punch, live at the building.

Police Prosecutor Kerry Bostwick objected to bail being granted, saying Punch told officers that it is “a lil hustle I doing, see what you could do for me,” after being cautioned.

Punch, a father of three, was subsequently remanded to jail. He is expected to make his next court appearance on October 30th.
