Man charged with trying to kill common-law wife

A man was yesterday charged with trying to kill his common-law wife.

Jeffrey Jones, 36, was not required to plead to the indictable charge of attempted murder when it was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

It is alleged that at a village, in the Upper Mazaruni River area, Jones, with intent to maim, disfigure, disable, or cause actual bodily harm, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Wanita Beharry.

 

No details other than those stated in the charge were mentioned in court and Jones was refused bail. He is expected to make his next court appearance on December 15th at the Kamarang Magistrate’s Court.
