Boxers set for Giftland Showcase

The boxers competing in tomorrow’s Next Generation Boxing: The Giftland Showcase card have been putting in work in and out the gym.

Some of the pugilists took time out from their training schedules on Tuesday to aid in a tree planting exercise geared toward beautifying the Merriman Mall.

Card headliner, Clive ‘The Punisher’ Atwell along with Imran ‘Magic’ Khan, Quincy Gomes and others, joined Ms. Earth 2014 Stacy Ramcharan, Minister with responsibility for Sport Nicolette Henry and Mayor Hamilton Green in lending a helping hand with the tree planting.

Following the exercise, Next Generation’s Aleem Hussain stated that all systems are in place for the staging of the fixture. Hussain added that the ambience of the venue will mirror that of an international boxing arena.

Atwell will take on the much reviled Dexter ‘The Cobra’ Gonsalves for the vacant WBC FECARBOX super lightweight title.

In the co-feature, Anson Green and Quincy Gomes will match gloves in a light welterweight match up scheduled for six rounds.

The organizers have also pit Terrence Adams against Keeve Allicock in a four-round featherweight fight.

Khan will be making his pro debut versus David Thomas in a four-round lightweight scrap.

There will also be four amateur bouts. Bell Time is 20:00hrs.

Tickets for the first Giftland Showcase cost $1000. Children under 12 years will pay half that amount.  (Emmerson Campbell)
