Karim’s century powers Rosignol Secondary to huge victory

A blistering 133 from Javid Karim saw Rosignol Secondary trouncing Belladrum Secondary by 116 runs at the De Edward ground in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) inaugural National Secondary School Cricket League (NSSCL) sponsored by Banks DIH’s Coco Cola and Rainforest Water, along with Digicel.

A release on the tournament said that Karim struck the first century of the League as Rosignol Secondary amassed 239 all out in 29 overs. Karim’s knock was studded with 17 boundaries and four maximums. Even though wickets kept tumbling at the other end (the next highest score was 15), Karim showed great composure and control. Bowling for Belladrum Secondary, Orlando Towenfield took 3/37, Anthony Mc Pherson 3/0 and Curtis Maxwell 2/36.

There was never a threat to the target during the Belladrum’s innings, and they crumbled for 123 in 22.4 overs. Curtis Maxwell contributed 48. The wrecker with the ball was Hemchand Singh who captured 5/23 from 6 overs, the release said.

At Bush Lot Secondary School ground, the home team notched up a comfortable 141-run victory over Woodley Park. Batting first, Bush Lot Secondary totaled 227 all out in their allotted 30 overs. The key scorers were Marvin Persaud with 50 (3*4’s), Seon Glasgow with 47 (6*4’s), and Nivendra Peraud with 24. Among the wickets for Woodley Park were Tamesh Roopnarine with 4/41 from 4.5 overs, Tony Dalona 2/24 from 4.0 overs and Lookram Evans 2/39 from 6.0 overs.

In their reply, Woodley Park was bowled out for 86. Clinton Grant snatched 4/33 from 5.0 overs, while Seon Glasgow and Nivendra Persaud accounted for 3/11 and 2/16 respectively.
