Police in Bartica outreach

The month of October saw a number of initiatives and outreach programmes being conducted by the Guyana Police Force (F-Division) in Bartica, as it aims to create public trust and strengthen the reinforcement of secure communities.

A press release from the Guyana Police Force stated that Superintendent Rabindranauth Budhram Commander of ‘F’ Division, received a donation of three bicycles from entrepreneur Prakesh Jaisairi, to be used by ranks in their community patrols and execution of warrants in remote areas where the terrain is not suitable for vehicular traffic. The presentation on 26 October 2015, was witnessed by Deputy Superintendent Rudolph Banwarie, the Sub Divisional Officer and other ranks of the force.

It was also disclosed that on 10 October, 2015, Bartica police officers participated in a sanitation and donation exercise at the Saint John the Baptist Anglican Church, First Avenue Bartica, which saw the churchyard being filled with several truckloads of donated sand and trees in the compound trimmed with the aid of church members and the Guyana Prison Service.

Tree planting exercises were also conducted on 3 October, 2015 (National Tree Planting Day) at the Regional Women’s Affairs Building and the Bartica Care Point Centre, by the Kaleidoscope Youth Club under the direction of Sergeant Donette Phoenix and ranks of the Bartica Police Station.

A workshop to expose youths of the community to the damage of illicit drugs was facilitated by Sergeant Donette Phoenix as part of the Force’s continuing drive to reduce abuse, depression and suicide in the society. This was accompanied by similar programmes under the Drug Abuse Resistant Education programme.
