A Leopold Street woman yesterday admitted to slashing her neighbour’s face after a row over stolen sanitary pads and panty liners.
Maridoa Roach, 45, was fined $80,000 with an alternative of three months in prison after she pleaded guilty to unlawfully and maliciously wounding Natasha Pierre with a broken beer bottle.
Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan handed down the fine in a city court, which heard from the investigating rank that on November 1st Pierre had confronted Roach over missing pads and panty liners.
As a result, there was a fight and the accused struck the woman on her right cheek with the bottle, causing deep cuts to her face.
Prior to her sentencing, Roach, a mother of two who lives off of public assistance, told the Chief Magistrate that she did not realise that the beer bottle was broken.
