Botofago created the biggest upset in the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) first division league, downing giants Winners Connection by a 2-1 score line on Wednesday at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground.
Phillip Quilla opened the scoring for the underdogs through a 17th minute strike. They then doubled their advantage 13 minutes later as Jahshaun Moore found the back of the net. Botofago eventually maintained their lead into the half time interval.
Winners Connection eventually pulled one back in the second period as Rawle Gittens scored in the 86th minute. Nonetheless, Botofago held on for the remaining few minutes to seal the unlikely win. In the earlier matchup, Silver Shattas and Blueberry Hill FC battled to a 1-1 draw.
Orlen Roberts opened the scoring for Blueberry Hill in the 37th minute while Michael Wilson equalized for Silver Shattas three minutes onward.
