Suspected bandit in Middleton St bar shooting identified

The suspected bandit that was shot dead last month after a shootout outside of Butcher’s Pool Hall and Bar, at Middleton Street, Kitty has been identified.

According to Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum, the man was identified as Odell Harris, of Campbellville. Blanhum said Harris, who was known to police, was identified by his brother.

Harris had remained unidentified since he was shot and killed on June 23rd. Police had said that he and another had discharged gunshots towards Paul Chow, at the bar in an attempt to rob him. A policeman and soldiers, who were at the site at the time, opened fire, hitting Harris. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Chow, 31, of Railway Line, Kitty, who was hit to his chest and the right side of his jaw, was hospitalised after the shooting.

Blanhum stated that investigations are still ongoing in ascertaining the person who had accompanied Harris.
