The case against the two police officers charged with assaulting detainee Colwyn Harding remains at a standstill as Prose-cutor Nigel Hughes was a no-show at yesterday’s hearing.

The case against the two police constables: Roselle Tilbury-Douglas and Devin Singh was set to continue yesterday at the Providence Magis-trate’s Court after Magistrate Leron Daley had previously adjourned the case to facilitate Hughes as he was unable to make the last court date.

However, she was forced to grant another adjournment as Hughes did not show up and the court said that the reason for his absence was not communicated.

The case is expected to be called again on November 26. The second adjournment comes a little over a month after Harding gave sworn testimony about what had transpired on the day in question.

Tilbury-Douglas of Alliance Road, Timheri, East Bank Demerara, and Singh, of Lot 125 Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, were jointly charged with assaulting Harding between November 1 and November 13, 2013, at the Timehri Police Station. Singh had an additional assault charge laid against him.
