Persaud had reportedly told one of his sons who resided with him that he was going to spend the night with his wife.

While the circumstances surrounding the accident are not very clear, relatives said Persaud was alive after the accident and was speaking up to the time of his demise at the hospital.

“He died about twenty minutes after [he arrived at the hospital] while the doctors were asking him questions,” a relative stated. Relatives also believe that Persaud may have survived if he had received more prompt medical attention, as he had lost a lot of blood.

Stabroek News also learnt from relatives that a car had slammed into the rear of Persaud’s car which sent him pitching out his of car. His car ten collided with a lamppost, hitting another car in the process.

The injured Persaud was left lying on the ground while drivers at the scene refused to transport him to the hospital since he was bleeding profusely, some of his friends told Stabroek News.

“One driver was there and he said that he doesn’t care if he car get mess up because he don’t want his conscience to bother him if the man dead, so he transport him to the hospital,” a friend of Persaud stated.

Persaud’s friend is also alleging that the other drivers who were involved in the accident are reporting a different version of the accident and they are attempting to exclusively blame Persaud who was not at fault since his car only slammed into the other car and the post after it was hit from behind.

The dead man’s relatives remembered him as a kind and jovial person. They said it would not have been possible for him to be driving under the influence of alcohol as he did not consume alcohol.

Persaud’s mother had left to travel overseas on the same day he died.
