Coast guards set to intercept yacht with body

A team of Coast Guards and two police officers is expected to reach the yacht today where the body of a man and his dog were spotted earlier in the week.

Coast Guard Commander Gary Beaton confirmed with Stabroek News yesterday that the team of coast guards had not reached the location of the boat as yet and were expected there by 2AM today.

While the body has not yet been identified, after the coast guards arrive at the scene they will tow the yacht back to the port, and are expected back here tomorrow. The marooned yacht was reportedly spotted and reported by an oil tanker that was passing by. Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told Stabroek News yesterday that he last received word from his investigators around 1PM which stated that they were en route to the boat.

The remains of the man and his dog were spotted sometime on Monday.

A French flag was flying on the yacht which was reported to be located some 200 miles offshore Guyana.
