Autopsy on French yachtsman points to suicide

An autopsy performed on the remains of French national Mocbel Robert Lois Bozier yesterday revealed that he died as a result of a gunshot injury he sustained to his head and from all indications the case is being treated as suicide.

This was confirmed by Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum who told Stabroek News that arrangements are in place to have samples sent overseas for DNA testing.

The body of seventy-year-old Bozier was spotted in a yacht, the `Allegro’ over week ago about 200 miles off Guyana’s coast. He was found with a single gunshot wound to the face that is believed to have been self-inflicted.

A dog was on the yacht and appeared to have been shot also. It is unclear where the yacht was headed.

Police investigators believe that the man shot his dog before turning the weapon on himself. Sources said that this conclusion has been drawn based on the position of the man’s body when it was found and the fact that a shotgun was found under his body.

Blanhum had previously told this newspaper that Bozier was found sitting in a curled position and the shotgun was found under his body.

Apart from that weapon, three other shotguns were found on the yacht and there appeared to be no sign of foul play on the vessel.

The discovery was made last Monday when passengers on a cruise liner saw the yacht with Bozier and the dog drifting.
