Cocaine found in package bound for France

Officers from the Police Narcotics Branch unearthed some 2.7 kilogrammes of cocaine hidden in the walls of an outbound package at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) yesterday afternoon.

The police, in a brief statement, said the package was being shipped to France via a courier service.

Stabroek News understands that the cocaine was found during scanning of the package, which consisted of a quantity of documents.

Upon being further examined, it was revealed that the walls of the bag consisted of whitish powdery substance suspected to be cocaine.

One person has since been arrested.
