Better scheduling would mean better financial results for all

Dear Editor,

Is it a surprise that Holder is expressing the same view that Gayle implied years ago that cricketers should be assisted in their quest for higher incomes than those which could have been earned when there was only one form of cricket? When Sammy decided to play in the IPL, wasn’t he sending the same message? Is it not obvious the issue is not about who is greedy and who is not?

Was not the potential to earn higher incomes one of, if not the main, reason our parents gave us for studying hard at school?

The circumstances in cricket make the issue even more difficult for players because the differences in the income earning potential in the different forms of cricket are so substantial, they are almost qualitative.

Are we so blinded by the fact that we have lost several cricket matches that we cannot see the obvious? Only a saint or a fool will refuse a half million dollars to remain eligible to earn one hundred thousand.

WI fans must join with the administration to pursue better scheduling in international cricket for better financial results for all. You cannot stop twenty over professional cricket.

Yours faithfully,
Romain Pitt
