Citizens should vote for honest, sincere people in the LGE and not according to party allegiance

Dear Editor,

As LGE 2016 looms there is every indication that there is an unequal playing field among the contenders. The major political players are already fielding every and anybody in all the municipalities and constituencies throughout the length and breadth of Guyana.

It is now left to the people in these local authority areas to reject any imposters and impositions and choose people of decency and integrity, because for too long communities have been neglected.

In the Diamond/Golden Grove districts it is evident that the access roads, bridges, drainage and burial grounds are in the most deplorable state, and it is a shame that these same people who held responsibility for this area have the gall to ask residents to re-elect them.

The time has come for people to stand firm and vote for honest and sincere people who will not be politically motivated, but will be on the side of the people who live in the area, work very hard and want to see a cleaner, safer and more secure community.

Within this context I would like to encourage communities to avail themselves of this opportunity to create a better future for our next generation.

My message today is let us not fail our villages and towns by voting according to party allegiance, but let us strive to elect our own who will build trust and restore hope.

Yours faithfully,
Andre Fortune
