Wales Estate to be closed

The Wales Sugar Estate is to be closed,  the government announced today, the first major decision following its setting up of a Commission of Inquiry into the Guyana Sugar Corporation.

Region Eight officials anticipate $4B budget

After years of infighting during the last administration, the two new top officials in Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni) have pledged to cooperate to tackle the many issues affecting the vast hinterland region and anticipate a budget of $4 billion this year to advance development projects.

Christopher Franklin last evening turned back the challenge of defending national men’s singles champion Nigel Bryan in straight games en route to winning his first national men’s singles table tennis championships at the National Gymnasium.

Ambris, Johnson inspire Volcanoes to win

BASSETERRE, St Kitts, CMC – A Sunil Ambris half-century and a three-wicket haul by left-arm seamer Delorn Johnson inspired Windward Islands Volcanoes to a tense five-run victory over Leeward Islands Hurricanes in their final round encounter in the Regional Super50 here last night.
