Guyana takes on Curacao in Futsal tourney

Guyana will open their 2016 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Futsal Championships today against Curacao in Havana Cuba.

Guyana will face off in the third match of the opening day from 18:30hrs, with the match day squad under the guidance GFF Technical Director Claude Bolton being selected from the likes of Travis Bess, Konata Mannings, Eusi Phillips, Daniel Favourite, Solomon Austin, Jerome Richardson, Travis Grant, Daniel Wilson, Sherwin Skeete and Richard Reynolds. On the management side, Joseph (Bill) Wilson will serve as the Assistant Coach while Denzel Thompson and Mark Young will act as the Goalkeeper Coach and Manager respectively.

Guyana will then return to action when they oppose Trinidad and Tobago from 15:00hrs in the opening matchup of day two. The local side will conclude their group campaign against Antigua and Barbuda from 15:00hrs on Sunday January 24th.

At the conclusion of the group stage, the respective group winners will face off in the championship matchup while the corresponding group runners-up will do battle in a third place playoff. Guyana’s previous participation in the championship came in 2008 when they finished in the fourth position.
