Twenty-five trainees last Friday became the latest batch of graduates of the Machinery Corporation of Guyana Limited (Macorp) Excavator Operator Training Programme.

According to a Macorp press release, the graduation ceremony for the trainees was held at Macorp’s Providence, East Bank Demerara headquarters, following the conclusion of a seven-week training programme.

During the programme, participants were expected to learn to demonstrate excavator operator safety, identify excavator components, use a simulator for control familiarisation, carry out recommended maintenance procedures, and demonstrate basic operation techniques.

Macorp said the latest batch now marks a total of 739 trainees who graduated from the programme, which was started in 2008 with the aim of equipping technicians and operators with skills to service and operate Caterpillar equipment and machinery, while creating a future for young Guyanese.

It added that the Best Graduating Trainee was Rasheed Harrison, followed by Bisram Ramrattan and Kwame Sinclair. All three were awarded for their outstanding performances.

Macorp, which is the only authorised Caterpillar dealer in Guyana, has been operating for over 20 years, and has established branches at Bartica and Port Kaituma.
