Guyana gearing up for Suriname friendly, Elite League matches postponed

With the international friendly between Guyana and Suriname only three days away, the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has officially rescheduled the matches in the Stag Beer Elite League.

The GFF Elite League was slated to continue today at the Tucville ground with a doubleheader, with Slingerz FC opposing the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) at 18:00hrs and Fruta Conquerors tackling Buxton United at 20:00hrs.

However, according to GFF Director of Competitions Ian Alves, the matches will be rescheduled for Wednesday February 24th at the same locale.

This decision was taken due to the fact that players within the national setup would have also been representing their clubs on the match days.

Guyana is slated to oppose their neighbouring counterpart on February 21st at the National Stadium in Providence, with the latter expected to arrive tomorrow at 10:00am following an overland trip.

The Golden Jaguars in their attempt to finalize their preparation, officially encamped on Tuesday at the Signature Inn. Under the tutelage of Trinidad and Tobago native Jamaal Shabazz, the Golden Jaguars in a warm up encounter, defeated Alpha United 4-3.
