Police are currently probing a report by a 16-year-old Lethem resident, who has alleged that she was raped by members of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) yesterday morning.
A senior police source told Stabroek News that the girl has said that the attack occurred during the wee hours of yesterday morning at Lethem, in Region Nine, where she was ambushed while making her way home after an outing.
