Bandits beat, rob Port Mourant businessman

Police in Berbice are investigating the armed robbery of a Port Mourant businessman on Wednesday night.

Stabroek News was told that masked men, armed with guns and a knife, invaded the property of Dharmen Ramkisoon at Train Line Dam, Port Mourant, around 8 pm on Wednesday. Ramkisoon, who operates a shop, was closing when he saw three men jump the fence and enter his yard. The men were quick to reach to the door before Ramkisoon could have closed it. The men then demanded cash and jewellery. Although Ramkisoon attempted to appease them, they brutally beat the businessman as they demanded more valuables. They gunmen dragged Ramkisoon to the upper flat and, where he handed over an additional sum of cash and gold. No one has been arrested.
