Vehicle bursts electrical wires at Eccles

Dear Editor,

To say that local government elections are long overdue is an understatement, but despite the pronouncements by the various stakeholders, myself and scores of residents in the Eccles Housing Scheme around the First Avenue and Fourth Street area are extremely concerned about an incident which occurred on Friday, 11th March. Shortly after midday on Friday I was informed by affected neighbours that a canter vehicle [number provided] while traversing along Fourth Street came into contact with overhead electrical wires causing the same to burst. The immediate result was a power outage, while the surge of current caused severe damage to household electrical appliances. My question to all prospective candidates and interested parties is, who is responsible for this mishap, and further who is going to pay for the damage?

Incidentally on the front windscreen of the vehicle were the comforting words “God is the Greatest” I hope God intervenes and bring relief to myself and others.

This matter was reported to the police at Providence, the fire service, Stabroek News and other media.

Yours faithfully,

Lloyd W Davidson
