On Monday, the quartet had also appeared before the court where police instituted charges of possession of a firearm along with matching ammunition, without the relevant licences.

Bunyan and Goodhart had pleaded guilty to the charge with an explanation and were refused bail, while the remaining defendants were sent on $60,000 bail each.

According to Bunyan, he lives at Lot 620 Fort Ordnance Housing Scheme, Canje, but he took the police to Goodhart’s home at Lot 52 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, where the police were given the gun which was dug up from under a stairway.

He told the magistrate that Goodhart had given him the gun earlier in the day and that he had it in his possession because Goodhart had asked him for a favour.

Meanwhile, Goodhart claimed that he lived at Lot 540 East Ruimveldt, where he would attend the Kingdom Hall at that location. According to him, he went to the back of a “place,” where in an unpainted building, he collected the gun.

Police Sergeant Phillip Sherriff, prosecuting, said the charges stemmed from an alleged robbery committed on the business premises of Sankar.

As a result, on March 16, last, Bunyan took police to Lot 52 Stanleytown, where he handed over the gun to the police  along with one .38 live round of ammunition .

Further, he said, McCurdy and Edwards were not implicated with respect to the firearm and ammo charges as the weapon was not found in their presence.
