File on Facebook threats to President sent for legal advice

Less than two weeks after Bibi Safaora Salim was arrested for allegedly making death threats against President David Granger on Facebook, investigations into the matter have been completed and the file has been sent for legal advice.

This is according to Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum who yesterday confirmed with Stabroek News that the case file was sent to the police force’s legal advisor.

Up to Saturday afternoon, Blanhum had told this newspaper that IT experts were working together with investigators to gather evidence in relation to the matter.

Salim, 52, of East Bank Essequibo, was arrested on the morning of March 31, along with her son who allegedly created her Facebook account for her.

Her son was released on station bail the said evening and Salim the next day.

Stabroek News was previously told that she provided investigators with a statement in which she denied making the threats.

Two other individuals who were also allegedly involved are yet to be apprehended.
