Leo Club hosts parenting training for men

The Georgetown Stabroek Leo Club will host a training programme for fathers and young men starting on Saturday at the Girls Guides Pavilion.

The training, which is to be held in three phases under the theme ‘Breaking the Cycle of Absentee Fathers,’ will target expecting fathers, young fathers and young men, offering them the skills and support they need to be better fathers and better men in their communities.

Saturday’s session will focus on how to be a provider. The second phase will focus on street and family law and will take place on July 23, while the final phase on gathering the basic skills needed to raise their children is set for July 30.

The club, which has over 40 members, seeks to provide the youth of the world with an opportunity for development and contribution, individually and collectively, as responsible members of the local, national and international community.

The members have attended such schools as St Sidwell’s, St Margaret’s, St Angela’s, and South Ruimveldt Primary and Secondary among others, to offer both civil and empowerment discussions to the youth to assist in guiding them down paths of morality.

The club is the youth branch of the Lions Club.
