National U17 football team beaten 1-4 by J/ca

The Guyana U17 football team got off to the worst possible start in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) championships losing to heavyweight Jamaica 4-1 yesterday in the United States Virgin Islands (USVI).

Although they held the Jamaicans scoreless heading into the half time interval, the Guyanese conceded four goals in the second period while only scoring once at the Lionel Roberts Stadium.

The Jamaicans now have three points while the Guyanese are yet to secure a point.

Guyana will now turn their attention to the home side USVI tomorrow at the same venue from 17:00hrs.

They will end their group campaign two days later against Antigua and Barbuda from 14:30hrs.

Guyana’s squad for the event reads (Goalkeepers) Jonathan Copeland, Sese Norville, (Defenders) Jeremy Garrett, Cicil Jackman, Ackel Forde, Kevin Padmore, Cosmo De Santos, Javier Smith, Alwin Franklin (Midfielders) Rondel Peters, Lorenzo Miller, Tyrel Khan, Nicholas Mc Arthur, Roberto Case (overseas) (Forwards) Malachi Adonis, Joshua Ferreira (overseas), Daniel Floy, Kobe Durant and Omar Brewley.

The tournament is scheduled to conclude on 25th September, 2016 in Trinidad and Tobago.
