Accused burglars released on $100,000 bail

Two men were yesterday brought before a city court to answer a charge that they broke and entered the offices of P &P Insurance Brokers and Consultants.

Michael Taylor and Steve Singh appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman, who read the charge that on July 17, at the corner of King Street and North Road, they broke and entered the business with the intent to commit a felony.

Both Taylor, 38, of 298 Independence Boulevard, and Singh, 24, of Lot 7 Riverview, Ruimveldt, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

According to attorney Mark Conway, who appeared on behalf of Taylor, on the day in question his client was walking along Main Street when he was stopped by a police officer and placed in a van with Singh, whom he met at that moment.

It was further stated that Taylor was then taken to the police station, where he was made aware of the allegation against him.

A bail application was subsequently made by Conway and Singh’s attorney.

Prosecutor Kerry Bostwick made no objection to bail, which was later set at $100,000 for each man.

The matter was subsequently adjourned to July 29.
