Corriverton Link advances after Hopetown unable to field team

Corriverton Link secured a win via walkover in the Berbice Football Association (BFA) zone of the NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power Under-17 Championship yesterday after Hopetown United was unable to field a team at match time at the Burnham Park ground.

The Corriverton unit secured the win without breaking a sweat as Hopetown United were unable to take to the playing area with the minimum of seven players needed to start the fixture. At the time of the match, the team only had four players.

With the result, Corriverton secured three easy points while Hopetown United made the long trek home with none. Action in the zone is slated to continue today at several venues.

At 2pm, West Berbice giant Rosignol United will match skills with fierce rival and East Berbice heavyweight New Amsterdam United at the Rosignol Community ground.

Over at the Mahaicony ground in West Berbice, Litchfield FC will lock horns with Paradise from 4pm. Similarly, at the Burnham Park ground, home side Cougars FC will faceoff with Monedderlust FC from 4pm.

Meanwhile, the tourney will also resume in the West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) section. In the lone fixture at the Den Amstel ground from 12pm, third placed Wales FC will lock horns with cellar occupant Eagles FC.
