In an effort to make the ‘awareness’ work of physically challenged employees of the National Commission for Disability (NCD) easier, Gaico Construction & General Services Inc. presented them with a wheelchair bus valued US$6,000 on Monday.

Managing director of Gaico, Komal Singh, who is also a board member of the NCD, said he saw how difficult it was for the employees to get in and out of vehicles.

He then decided to donate the bus “in good faith and as a gesture of my company’s ongoing corporate responsibility…” so that the employees who travel around the country to create awareness can do so with ease.

Minister of Public Health, Dr. George Norton who was present at the simple ceremony, lauded the effort of Gaico and expressed gratitude on behalf of the government and the NCD.

He promised to make representations for funding for more vehicles like that, to be included in next year’s budget.
