An Albouystown man was placed on bail after he denied a charge of robbery with aggravation committed against Chinese nationals at Regent and Bourda streets.

Kurt Simeroni,

It is alleged that on August 9, at Regent and Bourda streets, Kurt Simeroni, 21, of 12 James Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, while being in the company of others, robbed Zao Zhong Wu of US$200, $30,000 and a iPhone valued $60,000.  Simeroni pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Leron Daly on Friday.

Simeroni’s lawyer Dexter Todd, while making an application for bail said that his client is willing to clear his name since he is innocent. Todd further told the court that he is aware that the nature of the offence is one that gives great concern to the court but his client should be given bail since the offence committed was a bailable one.

Police Prosecutor Kevin London had no objections to bail. Simeroni was subsequently placed on $70,000 bail. His matter was adjourned until August 31 for statements.
