CPCE is not informing people about the status of their applications and the procedure for the 2016 intake

Dear Editor,

Exactly what is the reason for the lack of information concerning registration and interviews at the Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE) for 2016? Why can’t the public be informed about the procedure for the new intake this year?

I have called the CPCE general office at least nine times since the CXC results were released (Aug 17-Sept 6 2016) to check on the status of the application I submitted , and each time I was  told, “You have to wait for a call from the college.”  I also visited the office three times to submit a results slip and was told, “We are not ready for that as yet.”

Precisely what will be used to shortlist students if results slips are not collected? How long do persons have to wait for this call to know if their application is accepted or not?  I am sure many persons who have just finished CXC have applied both to UG and CPCE, and are now at home  waiting to hear from CPCE, before falling back on their second choice to pursue studies at the University of Guyana. (Mind you, this is the second week of classes at UG.)

At present interviews are ongoing whether by region or by batch, no one is clear. There is no information on the MOE page, in the daily newspapers, on the radio or television or on the notice board at the College, not even an email acknowledging the receipt of an application from  CPCE.

The educators at CPCE are taking too much for granted; they are putting the future of many   youths in jeopardy. Many persons are waiting for a response, to know if they have to pursue a    plan B at the University of Guyana. Everyone needs to do their part to empower the youths of today who will be the leaders of tomorrow.

Yours faithfully,
