In an effort to assist the Guyana Police Force, Chief Executive Officer of Roraima Airways Gerry Gouveia yesterday offered his company’s services for a one-hour aerial patrol every month at no cost.
Gouveia made this offer, which is not yet formalised, during the presentation of the Christmas Policing Plan yesterday at the Police Officers’ Mess, Eve Leary, where several senior police officers, including Commissioner of Police Seelall Persaud, were present.
“Public confidence is at a low heck right now and statistics will not change this,” Gouveia told the gathering as he advised the police that there is a need for a lot more confidence building patrols and an increase in presence of armed patrols in the streets.
Gouveia said that over the past few years Roraima Airways has been assisting the police in various ways and he urged citizens to do the same in order to make the Christmas plan successful.
“With all the guns in the world, if you don’t have citizens’ help there will be a major problem on your hands,” he said.
