Clemsville Music Ensemble gave a delightful concert

Dear Editor,

I am confident that the joy experienced at the concert and reception hosted by the Delegation of the European Union to mark the ratification of the Paris Climate Change Agreement at the Marriott Hotel, was shared by all who were present. The address by Ambassador of the European Union Jernej Videtic, Ambassador of France Michel Prom, and President David Granger helped us appreciate the importance of climate change.  It is a real thing which we need to appreciate from early childhood until we proceed to our final hour on earth. Due to careless ‘development’ earlier, we seemed to ignore the reality of climate change which puts our planet at risk.

Beyond this, I wish to compliment the European Union for a delightful concert by the Clemsville Music Ensemble. This talented group of locally trained youngsters led by Dr Wendy Rudder represents the hope that we can yet save and preserve the charm of good, well performed music, as against the loud noises which some deem music. The individual artists demonstrated, not only talent, but most of all discipline and dedication.

As we congratulate Dr Rudder, the Clemville Music Ensemble and the European Union, may we ask other members of the diplomatic community, government agencies, boards, and commercial and industrial entities to follow this pattern by using and therefore exposing our locally trained artistes. This could be an easy way to advance our culture, particularly when we bring to the forefront our dwindling group of dedicated music teachers and young musicians.

Yours faithfully,

Hamilton Green
