Customs make light work of Plantain and Cheese

Defending champs Magic Stars, Customs and Empire Futsal sides were among the winners when the New Era/Mohammed’s Enterprise Futsal Championship continued Friday at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) hard-court, Linden.

Magic Stars overcame Chelsea 11-6 in extra time with Jermain Grandison netting in the fifth, 11th, 16th, 42nd and 43rd minute while Ronel Matthews registered a hat-trick in the 34th, 46th and 48th minute.

Keon Sears chipped in with a double in the 20th and 41st minute while Steffon Tappin scored in the second minute. For the losers, Kevon Croal netted in the 25th and 37th minute while Oswin Hope scored in the 39th and 40th minute.

Supporting were Godfrey Johnson and Shawn Seaforth in the eighth and 28th minute respectively.

Meanwhile, Customs made light work of Spikeland 7-1.

Daniel Wilson netted a hat trick in the 11th, 14th and 36th minute while Wendell St. Hill, Shawn Marshall, Travis Mark and Frank Crandon netted in the 16th, 17th, 29th and 31st minute respectively.

For the losers, Lionel Joseph scored in the 23rd minute.

In their second match of the night, Customs ate Plantain and Cheese 6-3. Gavin Blackman bagged a brace in the 11th and 31st while Andre Bruart netted in the 35th and 38th minute and Wilson scored twice in the 34th and 40th minute.

For the losers, Al Chester scored twice in the 22nd and 23rd minute while Gavin Beldo netted in the sixth minute.

In the other fixture, Empire clawed their way past MSC Lions 6-4. Kevin Beaton scored a hat-trick in the first, 14th and 25th minute while Curt Johnson, Trenton Lashley and Benny Neblett assisted with goals in the seventh, 22nd and 29th minute respectively.

Josiah Simon scored a hat-trick for the losers in the 20th, 27th and 37th minute while Teon Thompson netted in the 24th minute.
