Almost one year after Richard Remington was murdered, two of the five men accused of killing him were charged and remanded to prison during last week.
Twenty-three-year-old Winston Hinds, called “Town Man,” of Lot 28 Blueberry Hill, Wismar, Linden, and Owen Belfield, 27, of Lot 59 Victory Valley, Linden were not required to plead to the charge when they appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
The charge stated that between February 9 and February 12, 2015, at Cholmondeley Hill, Wismar, the duo murdered Remington, 43, of Christianburg, Wismar, Linden.
Commander of ‘E’ Division Superintendent Calvin Brutus told Stabroek News yesterday that police are on the hunt for the three other suspects.
The decomposing remains of Remington were found in a clump of bushes along a track in the vicinity of Matthews Lane in the Christianburg/Cholmondeley Hill area on February 12, last year. He had been shot three times, including once to the head.
His relatives had recalled that he had left his home three days before his body was discovered and opined that he might have been lured into the bushy spot by someone he knew.
A relative had previously told this newspaper that inquiries of persons living nearby revealed that on the night of February 9 three gunshots were heard followed by sounds of someone running.
Hinds was previously charged with five counts of armed robbery.
