In  response to a news item in yesterday’s edition of Stabroek News on the matter, the DPP’s Chambers said:

“Please be advised that the two complainants being referred to in the article on May 21, 2016 gave two separate statements to the police in which they requested that no further action be taken in the matter.

“Consequently those two separate statements inserted in the police file were sent, to the DPP’s Chambers. Legal advice was given for no charge to be instituted based on the statements contained in the police file.

“Thereafter on May 30, 2016 one of the two complainants in the said matter visited the DPP’s Chambers and filled out a formal complaint form and therein she requested that the DPP take no further action in the said matter. The DPP’s Chambers complied”.
