Fyrish Sharks devour Canje Knights

Fyrish Black Sharks downed Canje Knights 46-40 when the Berbice Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) sanctioned Anamayah Memorial Championship continued Sunday at the Fyrish Basketball Court.

Tafawa Dey top scored in the win with 11 points. He was assisted by Desi Douglas and Kean Williams who netted 10 and eight points respectively.

For the losers, Gladwin Cort led the way with nine points while Jason Glaston and Steve Ramnarine chipped in with eight and seven points respectively. The opening period saw the Black Sharks seizing the early initiative as they outscored their foe 12-10.

The visitors took the lead in the second stanza, netting 12 points to the home side’s five points to go into the half time ahead 22-17.

However, Fyrish retook the advantage in the pivotal third quarter, outscoring Knights 18-10 to lead 35-32 heading into the final period.

Black Sharks then completed the result in the fourth quarter as they outhustled the visiting team 11-8. Action in the event continues Sunday at the Ithaca Hard-court with the home side Ithaca Hardliners opposing Smithfield Rockers from 16:00hrs.
