With places in the knockout round still up for grabs, the final group stage round in the Ministry of Health/Petra Organization Soft Shoe Championships will commence today with six matchups at the Santos Training Area on the Square of the Revolution.
In the opening fixture at 19:00hrs, Laing Avenue will tackle Campbellville while the second contest will pit Holmes Street Tiger Bay against California Square from 19:45hrs.
The third fixture at 20:30 will pit West Back Road against Channel-9 Warriors while Tucville will lock horns with North East La Penitence at 21:15hrs.
In the fifth engagement at 21:45hrs, Cross Street will tackle Globe Yard while the final contest will pit Festival City against North Ruimveldt at 22:30hrs.
The championship which concludes June 18th, will feature 24 community based teams competing in an initial group stage format.
Upon the conclusion of the group stage, the top two finishers from each group along with the four best third place finishers will advance to the knockout round.
The winner of the event will collect $300,000 and the championship trophy while the second placed side will receive $200,000 and the runners-up accolade.
On the other hand, the third placed side will receive $100,000 and the respective trophy while the fourth place finishers will pocket $50,000 and the corresponding title.
On the individual side, prizes will be awarded to the event’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Highest Goal Scorer. Other sponsors of the event include the Ministry of Public Health, GTT, Lucky Dollar, Nigel Supermarket, Junior’s Jewellery, Star Party Rentals and 2-J’s General Store.
