Barbell Wars on tomorrow at Queen’s College Auditorium

- Trophy Stall, Pizza Hut and De Sinco Trading are major sponsors

Trophy Stall has once again stepped up along with Pizza Hut and De Sinco Trading as three of the major sponsors lending their support to further promote the sport of powerlifting as Fitness Express collaborates with the GAPLF to host Barbell Wars slated for the Queen’s College Auditorium tomorrow.

Despite being  the  first year of this concept and slow response from sponsors, there are 25 athletes registered to clash tomorrow with veteran  powerlifters, gym enthusiasts, cross fit athletes, weightlifters, bodybuilders and young powerlifters all battling to make their mark at this inaugural event.

Spectators can look forward to an exciting evening as 20 males and five females compete for top honors, trophies and cash in two rounds of competition. The first round will comprise of three exercises, squat, military press and power cleans of 20 repetitions each. The top eight times after all rounds are completed will advance to the second and  final round where athletes will compete in deadlift and bench-press  exercises at 15 reps each and 30 second suitcase hold which will be done one hand at a time. The top three times will be declared the winners. Weigh in starts at 13:30 to 14:30hrs and competition starts at 15:00hrs. Tickets are $500 and are on sale at Fitness Express on Sheriff Street. Spectators can also pay $500 at the venue. Food and drinks will be on sale and no alcoholic beverages will be allowed in the venue.
